The Light and Motion Sola Nightsea is similar to a blacklight that illuminates underwater fluorescents to make things glow unlike you've ever seen before. Nightsea emits a special variable angle blue beam that is used to cause certain marine life and organisms to emit a visible glow. Special mask and camera filters are required to make the fluorescence visible. The blue light emitted by the Nightsea results in a much more intense fluorescent response than traditional Ultraviolet (UV). The Sola Nightsea uses the same factory sealed battery compartment and smart dashboard controls as the dive, photo and video ranges but emit the special blue light rather than white. The light can be changed between three different output levels measured in Radiant Flux (mW), 3000 flood / 1700 spot, 1500 flood / 850 spot and 750 flood / 425 spot as well as between a 60 degree flood and 12 degree spot beam. The Sola Nightsea also features a very useful filter lens that is fitted over the torch lens to convert the blue light back to white light for navigation. The filter lens can be fitted and removed as necessary. The built in lithium-ion battery is charged using an external plug that connects to ports on the back of the housing. Charging takes approximately two and a half hours and a full charge lasts approximately: The smart dashboard provides full control over the output levels using a magnetic slider to switch levels, beam angle and turn the light on and off. The three LEDs at the top of the slider provide status feedback of battery level and current power level selected. The slider can be locked by returning to the centre and turning 90 degrees. The Nightsea is supplied with mains charger, lens filter, ballistic handle and manuals. As with other Light and Motion lights, the Nightsea is compatible with other mounting options for attachment to photo and video rigs.
